Ipe Garden Furniture

Nowadays, a fast growing trend is to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.

We offer a line of outdoor garden furniture using materials and construction quality traditionally found only inside the home. Our products are made using IPE, Brazilian Walnut, which is unsurpassed in terms of durability. The wood has a deep, very rich, dark brown mahogany like coloring, with a fine to medium grain texture. The beauty of fine interior wood.

The product is naturally termite, mold, fungus and fire resistant and has appearance, density and longevity characteristics not found elsewhere. It is one of the most stable woods available.

IPE is three times harder than red oak and eight times harder than redwood. It is so dense, it has a fire rating of "A" (best given) by the National Fire Rating Association, the same rating as given to concrete and steel.

Physical Properties

Hardness
Ipe is a remarkable hardwood due to its natural physical properties. When it comes to the physical hardness of hardwoods, they are rated by the Janka test. The Janka test simply measures the amount of force (pounds-force) to embed a steel ball into the wood to half of the balls diameter.

Ipe hardwood is 368% harder than teak!

Density
One of the first things all of our customers notice is the weight of the product, this is because Ipe is the heaviest wood available for commercial use. The density of this wood is one of the factors that gives Ipe its resistance to mold, mildew, decay and burrowers.

Ipe is 65% heavier than teak!
